I’m Deborah, the founder of the Kula Karma Box.
I have been a student of yoga and a yoga teacher since 2004. I care deeply about emotional/mental heath & wellbeing.
The inspiration for the Kula Karma box came when I was searching for a gift for a friend. I just wanted something that resonated with their lifestyle & needs but also came beautifully and responsibly packaged, what could be more perfect than a little box of nice things hidden inside delicate tissue paper ready to be unwrapped & enjoyed.
It is so lovely just to give, treating friends & family to a pretty bunch of handpicked flowers or perhaps a skincare product, a bath oil or a heavenly candle that I've tried & I know they'll love. Sometimes you just want to let someone know you're thinking of them. What I love even more is that there doesn’t have to be an occasion, it's just kindness.
I used to have this strange logic that I had to wait for my birthday to buy myself something, just like I used to think I had to save certain outfits for special occasions…not anymore. Wear the amazing dress, put your favourite earrings or necklace on, buy yourself the flowers.
I've worked hard to source small independent makers & creators so you can be certain that each item is made with love. You'll find handmade & cruelty free products from sustainable sources as we all try & move towards a more environmentally aware lifestyle.
The beauty of the Kula Karma Box is that I've done all of the hard work for you. You will discover beautiful finds & treasures that are handpicked from small businesses from all over the UK.
Beautifully wrapped gift boxes that reflect the changes in each season.
Each box will feel like a decadent gift arriving at your door just waiting to be discovered for you or for the friends & family you cherish.
Gifts that feel personal, that when someone unwraps the tissue, they feel like every gift has been carefully chosen just for them.
A little about me..
Since 2004 I have taught yoga, breath-work & meditation. I am so passionate about yoga & especially teaching it so it feels inclusive for everyone. No one should leave a yoga session feeling “meh” or felt that teacher didn’t look after their needs. Yoga should empower you. I encourage those that join my classes to "tune inwards", to let go of comparison, make wise choices about their bodies & what feels good for them.
A yogic lifestyle will undoubtedly enhance your emotional & mental well-being, I hope I can help weave aspects of a more holistic way of life into your daily routine. Even the smallest step (a 5 minute meditation) will enrich your emotional & mental well-being. Yoga, for me helped hugely with post-natal depression & I’ll be forever grateful to yoga for that & it still continues to help me with hormonal issues.
As a child, I remember breathing in the exotic scents of my mother’s aromatherapy blends, trying her little pots of natural skin-cream that used to feel like pots of pure magic. I’m sure this is where my love of natural skincare began.
I love the ritual of lighting a candle before I meditate or teach a class, or I take a deep soak in the bath, it is these simple rituals that help to invite a sense of calm & peace into everyday life. Over the last few years, I’ve cared even more about what I am putting on my skin, the candle I light, who makes it, what am I inhaling?
As much as I love yoga, I am equally passionate about sharing my beautiful finds & treasures with you in the Kula Karma Box.
And finally, the name..
Kula – sanskrit term for a tribe/group/community of like-minded people with shared values
Karma - sanskrit term for action – all actions create karma – the intention behind the action affects the karma.
I hope you become part of our Kula.
